Biography —
Kristy Magee is the Associate Director for Graduate Student Recruitment and a proud representative of the Graduate Enrollment Management team. With a deep commitment to fostering academic growth and career development opportunities, Kristy leads strategic initiatives to attract and support prospective graduate students and get them connected to resources as they explore all the possibilities of graduation education at the University of Kansas. Her work focuses on building data-informed outreach strategies that best support programs across campus while expanding on partnerships with our local and global communities.
Kristy brings a student-centered appreciative education approach to recruitment and is driven by a passion for higher education and a dedication to helping individuals achieve their academic and professional goals. She earned a Master of Arts in Communication, a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre, and holds certifications as a Career Development Facilitator and Appreciative Advisor. Kristy has nearly 20 years of experience in higher education, which include experiences supporting graduate students from recruitment to graduation, providing resources and training to graduate advising staff, directing a college career development office, and teaching courses in personal strategic planning, career planning, and communication.
Kristy is passionate about working in higher education because she believes that learning experiences have the power to transform lives and create positive change in the world: one student, one opportunity, and one day at a time. She welcomes opportunities to connect with prospective students, staff, faculty, and community partners to advance access to graduate education at KU.
